Two swimmers from Pembrokeshire have qualified for the British National Age Group Championships 2012.
Carys Thomas of Pembroke and Kelsey Williams of Haverfordwest will both compete in the prestigious championships in Sheffield in July.
Both are members of the Pembrokeshire County Performance squad, trained by Paul Dowey, swimming development coach, with support from coaches from around the county.
Councillor Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for cultural services, sports, leisure and tourism, said it was a great achievement for both Carys and Kelsey.
"They have excelled themselves by qualifying for the National Age Group Championships for their third year," he said.
Fourteen-year-old Carys Thomas is a pupil of Ysgol y Preseli and a member of the Pembroke & District Swimming Club.
She has qualified in the 100m and 200m butterfly, 200m and 400m Individual Medley, and also the 800m freestyle, following qualifying times achieved in Portsmouth and the recent Welsh Winter Championships in Swansea.
Carys was taught to swim by the age of four by Jolene Wheeler at Milford Haven Leisure Centre, and had school swimming lessons from Trina Bowen (Pembroke School Swimming Co-ordinator) at Pembroke Leisure Centre.
Kelsey Williams, who is also a pupil at Ysgol y Preseli, will compete in the 100m breaststroke.
The 13 year-old learnt to swim at Haverfordwest Swimming Pool and developed her talent at Haverfordwest Seals.
She also qualified for the National Championships after times achieved in the recent Welsh Winter Championships.
