The 29th Annual Pembrokeshire CHEVRON Primary School's Music Festival was held in Haverfordwest at the weekend.
Over 400 primary school musicians took part in this year's festival held at Sir Thomas Picton School on Saturday (April 9th).
Organised by the Pembrokeshire County Council Music Service and sponsored by CHEVRON, individual performers and ensembles competed against each other in open competitions in the morning.
In the afternoon the winners performed in concert to a capacity audience, along with area orchestras and bands.
Judges picked saxophonist Talfan Jenkins from Narberth School as the overall winner.
He won the Open Woodwind class with a performance of Gypsy Songs by Balogh.
The winner of the Open Brass and Piano competitions was Dominic Belli from St Teilos R.C.School, who played In the Fast Lane by Robert Ramskill on the French Horn and Dreaming On by Chris Norton on the piano.
The winner of the string competition was cellist Oldrich Eliska from Prendergast School, who performed Latin Nights.
Marton Munkacsi, also from Prendergast, was the winner of the Open Percussion class. He performed Charlie is my Darling.
Meanwhile the Firedance ensemble from Fenton School won the ensemble competition with Firedance by Alan Pring.
"These competitions provide our young musicians with a valuable experience of performing to an appreciative and friendly audience of parents, teachers and friends," said Chris Llewellyn, Head of the County Music Service.
"The large numbers of pupils who take part, coupled with the high standards of performance demonstrate the strength of music in our primary schools and why Pembrokeshire continues to be one of the leading musical counties in Wales," he said.
"The youngsters also benefit from the support and advice given to them by the adjudicators - Jacque Scaife- Woodwind; Denis Mahoney - Brass; Jim Walker-Strings; Christopher Lovegrove-Piano and Harp; Edward Burns-Ensembles and Peter Morgan- Percussion."

Tenby Area Junior Schools' String Orchestra - Conductor Rebecca Whitehurst. Cerddorfa Bro Waldo - Conductors John and Iris Thirkettle. Tenby Area Junior Wind Band - Conductor Colin Barrett. Haverfordwest Area Orchestra - Conductor Elizabeth Cawood. St David's Area Orchestra - Conductor: Hilary Lewis.
Bro Jemima Orchestra - Conductor Philippa Roberts. Haverfordwest and Milford Junior Schools' Wind Band - Conductor Hilary Lewis.
