Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet visit
- Twenty-one Youth Assembly members from Pembrokeshire recently met with two Youth Cabinet groups in England. On 11th March 2010 the group visited Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet (MKYC) and then with Lewishams Young Mayor Youth Cabinet the following day. - Both groups are made up of youth cabinet members who are responsible for representing young people at a local and national level. The consultations enabled the groups to discuss best practice, share experience, develop relationships with their English counterparts and consider future youth exchanges. - The Youth Assembly members were also fortunate enough to have a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. The educational visit to Westminster was arranged in order for the members to see where the country's important laws and decision making take place. - As the Youth Assembly provides young people in the County with a voice and involves them in community decision making, a visit to Parliament and its debating chambers was seen to complement and support the work these young members do. - Under the watchful eyes of Pembrokeshire Youth staff, the group began their tour at the Royal Entrance, followed by the key areas of the estate including Victoria Tower, the Queens Robing Room, the Royal Gallery, the Prince's Chamber, the House of Lords, Peers' Lobby, Central Lobby, Commons Lobby, House of Commons, St Stephens Hall and Westminster Hall. - Staying in Milton Keynes the group also visited MK shopping centre for some retail therapy and also watched the stage show ‘Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang' at the Milton Keynes Theatre .
